Check the “About” page, press releases, or do a quick search: “[brand name] owner” or “[brand name] parent company”

Owned by Private Equity firms

  • The brand now carries debt and must generate returns fast
  • Quality cuts are inevitable: cheaper yarns, thinner fabrics, rushed production

Owned by large fashion conglomerates (LVMH, Kering, Inditex, H&M Group…)

  • Poor customer service
  • Focus on scale over craft
  • Quality varies wildly within the same brand

Founder-owned or family-owned

  • Decisions aren’t driven by exit strategies
  • Long-term thinking over quarterly returns
